10 Influencers Share Their Winter Skincare Routine

New year, new weather changes. Not even a month in the winter season and we’ve already endured cold fronts, negative temperatures, even blizzards. While white winters seem like a dream via Instagram posts, this season can be a nightmare for your skin. Fair, deep or anything in between, winter can bring winds so harsh, it can eventually lead to a lack of glow we all want to achieve.

As I expanded my skin care routine, I came to realize — the hard way — not all products were meant to give flawless, healthy face in winter. I had to switch it up. It required studying my face, doing proper research on my skin problems (discoloration and dryness), and finding recommended products within my price range. After lots of trial and error runs, I finally found my perfect winter regiment to keep my skin glowing and moisturized. Time-consuming? Absolutely. But so worth it!

We all have different skin types; each canvas filled with various strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps switching your cleanser during the weather change is necessary. Or simply adding more water in your diet is the missing link to your skincare routine. Regardless of your journey, it's always rewarding to reach your skin care goals!

Stumped on where to begin your winter skin care glow? We’ve interviewed our fave gal-pal influencers, beauty and fashion bloggers on their best routine for winter season.

What is your skin type?

Demi: My skin type is definitely overall dry, it gets a little more oily in the summer but not enough to be classified as combination

With the change in weather this season, what's one skincare product incorporate in your routine to help your skin type?

D: The change in weather usually has a lot of negative affects on my skin so I have to make sure to use very hydrating products, I've incorporated an overnight serum to help my skin feel more hydrated when I wake up.

What is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

D: My favorite winter beauty product is definitely an exfoliate, I use the Sabon lemon mint body scrub. It helps my skin feel so soft and smooth during these harsh winter months.

Toya: My skin goes through many changes throughout the year, but in the winter my skin is mainly dry.

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

T: In the colder months I like to have a holy grail essential oil on my nightstand. I usually grab for rosehip oil but I use almond or jojoba oil from time to time.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

T: My favorite winter beauty product would have to be any essential oil simply because it's a very versatile product. In the winter, I need that extra moisture anywhere I can get it! I use oils into my hair, skin, and DIY lip scrubs.

Haley: Oily-Combination

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

H: Typically around winter time I try to add a super light moisturizer to my skincare regimen. I love Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion because it is extremely oil-free and lightweight. I try and incorporate this at night after I have done my complete skin care regimen, when my skin is most lacking moisture.  I find that only using a moisturizer at night helps to manage my oil and balance my skin for when I wake up. My skin is very fair so it tends to get red if I mess with it too much in the morning, so, I just splash some water on my face and start my makeup routine!

What is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

H: My favorite winter beauty product is Micellar water, it sounds kind of strange (I know), but it has oil in it so it tones as well as moisturizes. It also doesn’t leave any residue, it’s super gentle and acts as a more moisturizing version of toner for the winter months. My skincare routine is definitely a less-is-more kind of approach.

Tayler: Normal to dry. Dry in the winter.

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

T: A LOT of moisture. I have been using the Cetaphil moisturizer and Shea butter at night time.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

T: NARS tinted moisturizer because I can use it in place of foundation or even on the go and it will add moisture to my skin.

what is your skin type?

Brittany: Unfortunately, I’ve been in a two decade long battle with dry skin.  I would have to say that during the winter and fall months the challenge gets a little bit tougher to moisturize, especially in my T-zone.

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

B: Being that I use a ton of products to maintain moisturized skin, I find it hard to narrow it down to just one product. If it really came down to it and I could only use one product I would have to go with one of my classic family ingredients, 100% organic coconut oil. This simple product can be found in almost any kitchen and it acts as a great moisturizer that I usually use before I put on my primer and foundation. Another great benefit of using the coconut oil is that it isn’t just for your face, but it can be applied to the rest of your body as well.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

B: I struggle with dry skin and even dry patches during the winter when the temperature drops. So after I moisturize with my coconut oil I go on to use my favorite product which would be the Maybelline New York Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, which is a great primer for my skin. It’s another beauty product that adds moisture to my skin, and protects my skin when I want to wear matte foundations through those colder months of the year. It is literally the best primer in the world!

what is your skin type?

Camille: I have semi severe dry skin. I grew up with eczema and still struggle with it so lotions oils and moisture masks are my best friends!

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

C: Since I've recently moved up north and the seasons have began to shift, I've learned that routinely moisturizing in the morning is key! I usually take a warm shower and use Cetaphil Shower and Bath oil on my damp skin right after I get out. I feel like it really locks in moisture and prevents dry itchy winter skin.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

C: My all time favorite winter beauty product is the most basic product ever - Vaseline Lip Therapy. SO basic but such a lifesaver! I use it so frequently when I'm outside walking or around town at photoshoots.

what is your skin type?

Stephanie: My skin type can best be described as the drama of a pre-pubescent teenager mixed with the hormones of a menopausal woman. It’s really the combinations to end all combinations. The dryness around my eyes, nose and lips mixed with the oily madness of my t-zone make for a super fun time every day.

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

S: Every year around October I add a super inexpensive but trusted product to my routine that you can pick up pretty much anywhere, Cetaphil Moisturizing cream for dry, sensitive skin. It’s crazy how much my skin loves it and even better that it’s so affordable. I started using this about 5 years ago when my skin lost its mind and I had to take drastic measures with my dermatologist to work it out (aka – I had to use Accutane to get my skin under control). This cream was a lifesaver and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s great because you can also use this on your body and it won’t cause your skin to break out. In the last two years, I’ve tried similar products that are far more expensive, but honestly this is the best.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

S: My favorite product I use each winter would blow most people’s minds, but I SWEAR BY IT. Honestly, it’s a life changer. In addition to dry patches, I have extremely dry sensitive eyes (and lips and nose) but the biggest issue in the winter is my eyelids and surrounding skin. I can only use certain eye shadows, mascaras, etc. because some products make my eyes swell and crack on the lids and in the outer corners. (Seriously, who has time for that?) Every winter to combat the dryness from the change in temps and now windy environment I live in, I use Aquaphor Healing Ointment around my eyelids and lips. But only at night! Not during the day…it looks greasy and makeup will not sit on top of it.  (Side note: I use a different pillow case every night when I wear this because this stuff will stain it but it’s worth it!! If you’re a good back sleeper you’re probably safe, but I’m a stomach and side sleeper so even though I try to go to sleep like a corpse and not roll over and smear it on my pillow, I always end up on my face. HAH!) The Aquaphor keeps the skin around my eyes moisturized and I swear it’s helped with my eyelash growth and under eye bags. (It may just seem that way because they aren’t as annoyed as they used to be, but I’m telling you, try this. It’s going to change your life.) This product comes in a variety of sizes so I buy them all and keep it with me everywhere. Super affordable and gentle on all skin types.

E: With the weather change this season, I have to add more moisturizing to my skincare routine since my skin is not used to the air being so dry.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

what is your skin type?

Jasmine: I have combination skin. Which is a new development because growing up I always had super dry skin, so it's been interesting learning how to care for it all over again.

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

J: For winter, I try use my Origins white tea moisturizer daily. I love the way it keeps my skin moisturized and hydrated throughout the day but it's not super heavy.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

J: I think my favorite winter (any season really) beauty product is Indian Bentonite Clay. It has so many uses but my go to is to use it as a face mask whenever I feel like my skin needs a re-up. I usually add a little ACV (apple cider vinegar), as well.

what is your skin type?

My skin type is dry and sensitive. Without the appropriate skincare routine, it can often feel tight with a few dry patches.

with the change in weather this season has to offer, what’s one skincare product you incorporate into your routine to help your skin type?

With the change in weather that this season has to offer, I primarily depend on a fairly new product to my collection. The Erborian Korean Skin Therapy line is incredible and I have several of their products, but my all-time favorite from them is their Bamboo Waterlock Mask. This mask is perfect for anyone with normal to dry skin because it is enriched with a unique complex of bamboo sap and fibers that lock in moisture and plumps your skin. This product is also made without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. One of the perks of having a product like this is that it can be used as a leave-on treatment or as a rinse off mask, making this the perfect winter essential.

what is your favorite winter beauty product and why?

During the winter months, I love to have a radiant makeup base, so my favorite beauty product to use is the Nars Sheer Glow foundation. This has been my favorite winter beauty product for ages because it gives me a radiant look with a natural undetectable finish. It is lightweight and has several powerful antioxidants that protect against damaging free radicals. In my experience, the foundation can stay on for up to 10 hours and it keeps people with dry skin like myself from having any issues as the day goes on. I couldn’t imagine ever straying away from this product!
