How to Create A Luxe Living Space On A Budget

Ways You Can Make Your Home Look Expensive for Less

Most of us love watching home improvement shows, where world famous interior designers pick the most expensive items in a store, and tell their clients that they simply MUST have that piece in their home. And when we browse online for that or similar piece the price tag itself can at times be quite a shock. However, the truth is that you don’t need a mirror worth half a million in order for your home to look expensive.

The right choice of fabrics, some design tips and a few accessories can make your living space extravagant without breaking bank. And this article will show you the way.

Opt for neutral primary colors

By having a white, light gray or beige base you will add a sense of clean space, and will allow for a few memorable pieces to stand out. Another great thing about opting for a neutral base, is the freedom of choice later on, may be you will change your mind about certain pieces and decide to change them, your base colors will be able to work well with any change and there will be no need for additional investments.

Choose to invest into several key pieces

It is important to remember that not everything needs to be expensive in order to look good. For example, you can opt for some quality round rugs that will help lift up your room without emptying your wallet. Another inexpensive option are bold colored pillows, you can even get them in finer materials like plush or cashmere. You can also opt for a few pieces of wooden furniture, this will add warmth to your living space, while elevating the entire look.

Mirror, Mirror…

No room is complete without a mirror. Investing in a show-stopping mirror can really make your living space seem luxurious. Mirrors provide additional light, they help the space seem bigger and brighter. In addition, a well-crafted wooden frame can really make it pop. You can browse yard sale or antique stores to find an affordable rustic mirror that will give a room character. The only thing to keep in mind when choosing a mirror is its size. You should first decide where the perfect spot for it will be. Since the mirror above the sofa will not be the same size as the one above your fireplace or your bedroom mirror.

Art is a must

People tend to associate art pieces with wealth and luxury, and by adding a few paintings or sculptures you will be able to give your home that expensive feel. However, not all pieces of art have the same effect, if you buy the wrong painting it could make your home seem kitch and cheap. So when adding art to your living space  try not to match it to the room. Instead, opt to contrast and complement the space with it that way it will work with the room and won’t get lost. The pieces of art you opt for don’t have to be expensive, they just need to go well with the decor, and more importantly they need to make you feel something. That is the true purpose of art after all.

Let the light in

When it comes to lighting you should keep in mind that there is no universal rule for your entire home. Choosing the right lighting depends on the purpose of the room. For example, you should choose subtle lighting for the bedroom, where a stylish lamp would be the perfect choice. On the other hand, if you want your living room to embody luxury, opt for accent lights that will accentuate the architectural features of your home, as well as the room design. These are not expensive, and can easily be added as  a DIY project.

These are just some of the ways to make your home look more expensive. Just remember, it is even more important that your home is ideal for you and your family. The energy that fills your home is what will make it the most extravagant place on Earth for your family and friends.
