These Things Could Be Preventing You From Being A #GirlBoss...

“You don’t get taken seriously by asking someone to take you seriously. You’ve got to show up and own it. If this is a man’s world, who cares? I’m still really glad to be a girl in it.”
― Sophia Amoruso#GIRLBOSS

Are you passionate about being your own #girlboss, but it just seems like reaching that level is impossible? Well, you just may be the one to blame for that. We are a step away from 2016 which makes this the opportune time to have this discussion, and fix it before we enter the new year. Being a #girlboss goes far beyond talent. It involves a lot of drive and action behind your talent. It involves raw and kick-ass passion.

So let us evaluate some things that may be preventing you from being the #GirlBoss you always dreamed of.

Laziness...

Let's face it. Laziness gets the best of us at times, but this is probably the number one reason why people do not reach their goals. A girl boss is far from lazy. They make it happen even when they are tired and just "don't feel like it." Once you identify that laziness is preventing you from living your dreams then you can start making measures to stop it. Cut it out, girl. When you feel like sleeping, or sitting on your butt doing nothing productive... think about the bigger picture and fight past the laziness.

Distracted...

How often do you aimlessly scroll through your social media timelines, surf the web, and watch reality TV? These are distractions that may be taking you away from focusing on your business and goals. I personally have to fight this battle all the time. It starts off as "research" and two hours later I'm on Instagram checking out the latest gossip and my fav celebs selfies. Do not fall into the hole of distractions. Focus on what's important, and save the things with no purpose for another time.

Instead of telling the world what you're eating for breakfast, you can use social networking to do something that's meaningful.

Talent, but no skills...

You can be very talented and have the perfect idea of how you want to run your own business, but a true girl boss must acquire the skills to make it happen. Start researching your market and get to know more about the tools you need to succeed. It takes more than just talent. Learn how to market and promote your material and how to manage your business and all of the legalities it entails. You can always hire help, but if you're starting from the ground up I suggest doing a lot of studying and learning these skills yourself.

You're not networking with the people you need to be...

“If you want 1 year of prosperity, grow grain. If you want 10 years of prosperity, grow trees. If you want 100 years of prosperity, grow people.” - Chinese Proverb

Cliche, but it is not always what you know but who you know. Seriously. Networking and being nice is a very essential key to being a girl boss. Evaluate how often and who you are networking with. Getting to know people in your market is very essential for your success. There are so many people you can learn from and help you on your journey to the top. Networking will also help you build a fan base and support system faster. Instead of wasting time with people who are not beneficial to your success, start talking to people who will encourage you to be the amazing girl boss you are destined to be.

So future #GirlBoss, before 2016 arrives, evaluate yourself and try to figure out why you are not quite where you should be. Besides the things that we just cannot control that may put our dreams on hold, stop doing what you're controlling that is preventing your success.

If you have not checked out the best selling book, #GirlBoss, yet then I'd advice you read it as soon as possible. Sophia Amoruso from Nasty Gal makes it very clear on how she made it to be as successful as she is and what the true meaning of a #GirlBoss.
