Style Watch: The Fashionista Behind "Uhh Sandy"
On our radar this week is none other than fashion blogger, Sandy, from Uhh Sandy. Sandy is a recent Fashion Merchandising graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University, but not recent to setting the internet on fire with her fashion expertise and style. Blogging about beauty and fashion became her hobby back in 2006, with a simple Blogspot and Tumblr page that later grew into something much more. Now, Sandy is inspiring women from all over in ways she could never imagine.
We were able to catch up with her this week to pick her brain about her minimalistic style, her inspiration, and much more. Sandy is as sweet as she looks. Check out her Q&A below.
What is your top style inspiration?
This is going to sound so basic - Instagram. That platform just has so many photos you can look through and see people with so many different styles. If I ever have trouble figuring out how to wear something, I just go there to get some inspirations.
Do you consider yourself having a signature style? If so, what is it that makes you stand out?
No, not really? I always struggle to answer these types of questions because I honestly don't know... I feel like the main thing that makes me stand out is my hair?
If you had to relocate to a warm place where you could not buy any clothes (nightmare) and you could only bring one outfit, what would it be?
Hmm...my outfit would be an oversized t-shirt, black skinny jeans, black pointed ankle boots, and a lightweight jacket because I can style these in multiple ways and get different looks. I can think of maybe 10 looks just from that. It's all in the details like tying up, tucking in, cuffing, and etc.
If you received a $500 gift card that could only be used for clothes and/or shoes, where would you shop?
Pretty much any stores at the mall (Forever21, Charlotte Russe, H&M) and a couple of online places that sells more unique pieces (Choies, Yesstyle, Storenvy, Ebay)
What are a few of your closet staples?
Most of them are listed in the previous question haha. I absolutely need black pointed ankle boots - my favorite footwear EVER. The others would be a basic dark grey, white, or black deep-V tee, black skinny jeans or black leggings, and a leather jacket.
Name 3 people that you consider fashion icons:
This is so hard to choose! I guess...Audrey Hepburn, Rihanna, and Vanessa Hudgens.
For someone who is interested in pursuing a fashion/style blog, what advice would you give them?
I'm going to sound like a broken record and some might not even find this helpful, but honestly, CONSISTENCY. If you want to start a blog - just do it! Just make sure you post consistently and that your photos are not blurry. Somehow, people will stumble across you.
What has been the most rewarding moment with UHHSANDY so far?
When I get comments/messages from people that tells me that I inspire them to start a blog or dye their hair blonde or starting a skincare routine - just inspiring them somehow. It just makes me happy that someone like me (out of everyone else out there who is WAY more qualified than me) was able to give that impact to them to do something that may be out of their comfort zone. It's...pretty..."cool" haha.
